Bahia Beach, Puerto Rico
A family home designed to serve as a retreat for entertaining and relaxation. The design of this home, located on the north shore of Puerto Rico, near El Yunque National Park, is rooted in historical Puerto Rican architecture with Spanish influences.
The home was designed around a double-height great room with low-sloped, light filled hallways leading to secondary spaces.
The use of natural and local materials such as stone, clay, and reclaimed wood incorporate the island’s beauty seamlessly. Local craftsmen created beautiful millwork throughout the home including a hand-carved door to welcome visitors. Carved doors continue inside the home along with more transitional millwork and cabinetry to accommodate function and style – all while remaining grounded in historical architecture.
A variety of living and dining spaces integrate the outdoors within by way of a covered loggia, cabana and dining courtyard featuring a lush green garden wall and fountain.
In addition, graciously proportioned balconies and large steel framed windows allow for enjoyment of the surrounding Puerto Rican landscape.
